Thomas M. Turzak
Partner and Consultant

Thomas M. Turzak spent over 35 years in the engineering and construction industries, progressing from a process engineer at Diamond Shamrock to the president and chief executive officer position at three separate engineering companies. He has built relationships throughout the world, as his many projects took him from the former USSR to South Africa and throughout Asia. He turned around two companies and participated in leading reorganizations of three businesses. He has gained in-depth experience in revising strategy and systems and has also developed start up companies.

As President and CEO of Haden Corporation, one of the top three global companies that offer design, manufacture and installation of paint and oven production facilities, Mr. Turzak returned the company to profitability within one year of taking the position. As President and CEO of Jasper Construction, he increased personnel from 50 to 2,000 and the company's backlog from $50 million to $500 million. And as President and CEO of Cupples Corporation, he once again returned a company to profitability within a year of his tenure. Here, he negotiated with the union to reduce wages in the manufacturing operation, introduced new systems, procedures and personnel in the project execution area, and provided strategic redirection in sales and marketing.

Mr. Turzak managed a global sales and marketing force for Raytheon Engineers & Constructors and developed business activities for such product lines as Oil and Gas, Petroleum and Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals, Manufacturing and Food and Consumer groups. At Bechtel, Mr. Turzak led a start up group that allowed the company to diversify into the automotive, pharmaceutical, food and semiconductor industries. And at Davy McKee/John Brown Corporation he developed the strategic plan for a new worldwide office, which grew the business over 300% in three years.

Mr. Turzak has led due diligence teams around the world in various acquisition and merger activities and has participated in National Development Programs in Russia, South Africa, Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria and Ukraine. He is recognized for creative, innovative thinking along with strategic planning and application of the Balanced Scorecard Process.

Graduating from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in two engineering disciplines, Chemical and Industrial, Mr. Turzak went on to the Executive M.B.A. Program at Rice University. He is the father of two grown children and resides in Barrington Hills, Illinois.
